As a teacher at Title 1 school, my students come from different backgrounds and different social economic statuses. Most of my students are on free and reduce breakfast and lunch. Many of my students walk to school or are dropped off early for breakfast at school. Many students receive backpack food for the weekends to help them have meals when not at school.
My students are fun loving kids who love to learn.
My students aren’t always able to bring in the necessary supplies to learn, though. Many times I help provide those supplies so they can continue learning and participating in our projects.
Some of students have very little positive family homes so school becomes their safe haven and place to shine. I try hard to build a positive classroom community where we can all be learners.
My Project
When students walk into my classroom, I want them to be excited to come learn. Having a variety of morning tub activities and tools will keep them excited to start our day.
My students will be eager to come to school and begin their day with a hands on activity.
I want my students to build and to think outside the box with different manipulatives.
My students will have opportunities to cooperate with peers and will learn there are different opinions and ways to build and manipulate the tools and objects. Through my guidance, morning tubs will allow for students to think and problem solve while working together. Students will learn to respect other's opinions and ideas when working together while having fun together.
