My Students

My group of 5th graders are a lively group, but they are also hardworking, motivated and determined to succeed this school year. Many of my students have made growth the first half of the year and are determined to grow even more in their reading and writing abilities. While there are still students performing below grade level we are working hard at bettering ourselves each day. The students that fill the seats in my South Philadelphia classroom come from caring homes and parents who want them to succeed and better their life, however they do not always have the means to provide their scholars with the necessary tools and materials needed to do so.

While in class, each student is held to high expectations for learning, and a no excuse approach taken when it comes to completing work both in and outside of the classroom.

Each student is expected to participate, and complete their assignments to their full ability in class. With this being the case we often need lots of extra supplies in our class in order to make sure everyone has what they need to get the job done!

My Project

These materials will help with our daily lessons. Pencils will be used to help use complete our assignments, red pens to mark up, edit and correct our essays. Highlighters and colored pencils to pull out specific text details and supports to answers.

Anchor charts and markers to create learning posters, to help us reference material being taught in class.

Post its to annotate the texts, and think about our readings without having to write all over them.

Folders will help to keep our work organized and neat. White board markers to help "show what we know" and increase whole class participation.
