This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in inner city Los Angeles. Our school services students that have extremely diverse backgrounds and have had very different experiences. Our students are also considered to have a very low socio-economic level. Yet we are a very united and spirited school that is always looking for ways to encourage our students love for learning, and help them achieve their best.

My students are curious and eager to learn.

They love to ask questions and get more information. Though the questions might not be content related, my students are always looking for opportunities to grow.

My Project

The pandemic has affected every single part of our lives. But I think children have been impacted the most. I understand that for everyone's safety schools must remain closed. However, students need to continue their education. Now distance learning is the only option I have to connect with my students. Sadly, distance learning has limitations, and it is very dependent on what device the person has access to. To have a successful learning experience while working at a distance, one has to have a good capable device. I was lucky enough to have been provided with an iPad from my school. Unfortunately, this is not an appropriate tool to teach online.

By funding this project you are giving me a powerful tool to help me teach and provide my students with the best possible learning experience given our current situation.

With this laptop I will be able to run different programs at the same time to make the learning experience more seamless. I will also be able to see my students' faces at the same time that I’m running these programs which is crucial in helping make connections with my students during this time of social distancing.
