My Project

I still have my journal from my senior English class (Class of '83). I remember journal writing time in English as being a great time to reflect, to question, to vent, and to pour out emotions. My seniors write in journals twice a week. I provide a topic, but most of the time they can write about whatever they choose. I rarely grade them, but always let them know when I'll be looking at them for a grade.

I want my seniors to have their own journals to record memories, sort out problems, and reflect about their school years, and dream about their futures.

Like any skill, writing improves with practice--this gives them a place to do it.
