My Students

I teach first grade in a small farming town in Illinois. We have such a diverse students population. On one side of town, we have students who come from half-million-dollar homes and on the other side of town students who come from public-housing situations. 30% of our student population receives free and reduced price lunch and school fees. My goal for all my students is to give each and every one of them the same opportunity to learn with every advantage possible.

If I can accomplish one thing in the short time I have my students, it would be that know that I truly love and value them as individuals.

My Project

Our classroom is currently an alternative seating classroom. We love getting to choose to choose a seat that will best fit our unique learning needs. We are always learning about ourselves as learners through this type of classroom.

One of our favorite places to sit in our room is the couch.

It is a great place to get comfortable when reading a good book. We also can stay focused during math and writing by pedal a desk bike while sitting at the couch. Our beloved couch is so loved that it has become ripped and is on it's last leg. We are in jeopardy of losing our favorite place to sit.
