My Students

Every parent wants their child to grow up to be a doctor, I want to get them hooked!

We are part of a charter school in Arizona that serves kindergarten through sixth grade.

We are a hands on, fun loving and diverse group of students. We are one of two fifth grade classes in the school. while we have science books we do not have a lot in the way of science equipment.

My Project

One of the 3 or 4 units of study we cover in fifth grade here in Arizona is the human body. We study bones, muscles, and circulatory system. I want to give my students something they can put their hands on to make the study of bones concrete. This life size unit will serve to give the students something to connect their learning with.

As a country we do not produce as many scientists and doctors as we could.

The sciences, much like art and physical education, are getting left behind in the pursuit of more basic math and reading standards. We need to inspire more students to embrace to sciences. Giving students something to put here hands on and connect can help inspire them and really who doesn't want a child who inspires to work with the human body.
