Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I've put together a list of items that I believe will make a real difference for my students. I'm taking the flexible seating to a new level by adding extension cords so that Chromebook charging can happen in multiple areas of the room. The clipboards and lap desks will make it easier for students to find the seat where they can be successful and continue working on their reading or writing. These seats also make it easy for students to work together in partners or in groups.

The prizes that are listed will be used as part of our reading program.

Students that complete books, get "caught" reading, or pass their AR quizzes will be able to spin the prize wheel or receive a scratcher card that will reveal their prize.

The hot chocolate adds to the coffee theme in the classroom. During the cooler months, when we work on independent reading in class, students will be drawn randomly (or will land on hot chocolate on the prize wheel) and be able to use our class Keurig to make their own warm beverage. This was something that we did last year and it was a huge success!

Lastly, I've added copies of some of the most popular books from our school library to the list. This way, students that are interested in reading these books can check them out from our school library.
