Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a special place because my students have the opportunity to feel successful. Despite the community and the conditions that surround our school, our students are happy and full of life and just eager for the opportunity to reach the full potential and compete in their future world.

My school serves a low-income, inner city community that is plagued by gun violence, gangs, and drugs.

Predominantly African American community, but now with a recent influx of Hispanic students. Our school and community have limited resources so our students are limited on technology, access to novels, and other things that is needed to meet the needs necessary in the classroom.

My Project

I have been committed to integrating technology into my classes this past school year with the purchase of iPADs and Chromebooks. This has allowed me to reach my students and have my students communicate with me in ways that they have not been able to in the past.

They have been creative thinkers who have produced amazing work via PicCollage, Vocaroo, Padlet, and many more.

I would like to capitalize on what I have already started by learning more and to further develop so that I can share instructional technology resources not only with my students, but with my colleagues through my role as professional development liaison.

This project will help cover the cost of registration, lodging, and transportation to the ISTE conference. ISTE stands for the International Society for Technology in Education. I will attend workshops at this conference focusing on integrating Hyperdocs in the classroom, using technology to facilitate book clubs and writers' workshop, as well as G Suite for Education. In addition, workshops on learning via gaming and project based learning will enable me to sufficiently address the various learning styles of my students.
