My Project

We live in a city filled with resources, but sometimes it is hard to get these resources into the classroom and into students' hands. This is most evident in school libraries. The jury is in, kids read when they want to read. They want to read when they can read and they are interested in what they are reading. Like any mix of people, the mix of students in a class varies by interest, reading ability, reading stamina, etc. While we try to anticipate what will make everyone happy when building our school library, we all know that it is nearly impossible to make every single person happy.

The New York Public Library can make this possible!

They have books that one can only dream of owning and they make them even more appealing by offering these books online through SimplyE!

I am requesting Amazon Fire tablets for students to access books from SimplyE by the New York Public Library. This will help students take advantage of the trove of literature that the city has, from the comfort of their own classroom. They will get to try genres, dive into series that will push their comprehension further, and have access to audiobooks that they never would have access to in the classroom in the past.

Please help bring NYPL into our classrooms so our kids can take advantage of these resources New York City has to offer.
