I teach second grade in a title one school in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The second grade social studies curriculum involves a study of New York City. We are supposed to connect reading to all our subject areas, but the problem is, there aren't many books on New York City in the school. I would love a collection of books from Barnes and Noble about New York City so that my second graders could hear and read about it. Please consider funding my proposal and help the children to discover a connection between what they have seen and what they will read about in books.
