My Students

My students have a thirst for knowledge, smiles that light up any room, and they celebrate each new skill. My students also have a wide range of identified needs such as learning delays, developmental delays, Autism, and physical impairments. Additionally, many of my students are facing issues such as homelessness, poverty, and other traumatic issues.

You can help level the playing field for special needs students.

Special needs students deserve a great education and this is what I strive to provide every day, but sometimes I need help. When that happens, I turn to you and Donors Choose!

My Project

This project is designed to get our students ready for a new school year. Many of our students face issues that may prevent them from having the supplies they need.

It is common to have students to show up unexpectedly and not have any supplies.

When you donate to this project, here is how my students will use the supplies:

Pencils: Pencils are a basic supply used in the classroom but so many do not perform the way students need them to. These pencils are higher quality so they will not frequently break.

Pencil Sharpeners/Pouches: Being a Special Education teacher I work in multiple classrooms throughout the day. The electronic sharpeners will be placed in each room so that the students can focus on learning. The manual sharpeners will be sent home with students so that they can complete homework.

Crayons: The large boxes of crayons will be placed into 8-crayon bags and be given to students that do not have crayons or need new crayons. The twist crayons are for students that have trouble with how much pressure they should assert, this way crayons won’t break.

Dry Erase Markers: Students LOVE learning with dry erase markers. The markers will be used daily during spelling, literacy centers, math practice, and various other activities.

Other Supplies: The rest of the supplies will be used in a similar way, either given to students to have the supplies necessary to be successful in and out of the classroom.
