Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in an urban community in the South Bronx. They come from a diverse background with a rich culture such as African, Dominican, Puerto Rican, Mexican, and Middle Eastern. The community is riddled with crime. The students are exposed to this environment on a daily basis. The school they attend is a Smaller Learning Community school. The school is a safe haven for them to learn and they are surrounded by a staff who cares about their learning and personal growth.

The school provides a place where the students know that there are endless possibilities in their future.

Students are enthusiastic when they learn something new and they are engaged in each subject. The students are able to explore a whole realm of new information through inquiry learning. I am happy to be an integral part of their lives and their academic success. I want them to be able to contribute to their society in the future.

My Project

My students need basic classroom supplies in order to ensure students are engaged and proud of their work! Classroom materials like dry erase boards and markers can be used to engage students to show their mathematical thinking.

My students in the community I teach are unable to bring in basic supplies as simple as paper and pencils!

These students need to be able to write and use resources found in the classroom. To ensure student learning and academic success these classroom materials would be used daily to allow my students to get the best education and confidence they need in their academic success!
