My Students

My students are bright, engaged, creative thinkers who thrive in a school space that allows them to think critically and independently. My students attend a Title I school in Oakland, California with a school-wide free breakfast and lunch program. Many of my students come from families and communities that have experienced some form of trauma and often have difficulty coming to school. Our school has an increasing amount of newcomer families, which continue to make our school an amazing and diverse community where all are welcome.

My students are scientists, writers, dreamers, poets, musicians, athletes, dancers, readers, and mathematicians.

They want to succeed in school and it is my goal to provide them with the resources they need to do so.

My Project

As I approach my 3rd year teaching in a title one school in Oakland, CA I have learned what materials I need to start my year off right. These include materials for me and the students and range from post its to new markers to new books in our library.

My students show up every day ready to learn and deserve the best school materials we have to offer.

I have worked in a variety of schools and have seen first hand how students' experiences differ when they are not provided with basic school materials.
