My Students
My students are just starting third grade and we have a lot of work to do to be successful.
These kids are eager to learn and determined to pass the grade level and move up.
At just 8 and 9 they know the importance of education and all express the desire to go to college and earn scholarships. However, in order to be successful, we need to have basic supplies.
These students want to thrive and have so much potential. I'm excited to see their growth and know that we will make gains!
My Project
At this time, the school is unable to provide recess equipment. So, I'm requesting jump ropes and balls so the kids can enjoy just being a kid. Keeping them busy on the recess field will also help manage behavior, as their hands will be busy playing and they will also be working on building relationships with others.
Many of these items are basic supplies that some families just aren't able to financially provide for at this moment.
Being awarded these items would help our classroom focus on learning instead of just making do. These items will fill their group caddies - things like pencils, erasers and dry erase markers.
The tennis balls are my biggest expense. The school was built in 1928 and we are on the second floor. Just the action of the chairs being moved creates such a distraction to the class below. I need four balls per chair to go on the feet and help with the noise levels - both my classroom and the one below.
The band aids, hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes will help keep the kids and learning space cared for and clean. Also kids won't have to leave the classroom and interrupt their learning for minor cuts and messes.
Part of my behavior management includes rewards for positive role models. These rewards are fun pencils, erasers and stickers.
We need a class set of hand lenses so we can fully engage in hands-on science activities.
The ink cartridges and laminating sheets are so that I can print things like vocab for our word walls in color at home and laminate them to last for years. We have a printing limit and can only print in black at school. I know some things are more engaging and have more impact when in color.
