My Students

Teaching in the 21st century has it's challenges, but it also has it's rewards. After teaching students the who, what, where, when, and why of research projects the next step is to help students pick a topic that interests them and creating an end product, but how?

I teach in a pre-kindergarten to eighth grade school in the South Bronx.

Most of my students are below level, some more than two years. Many of them are overage, again some more than two years. Remarkably, at this same school I have instructed an accelerated Regents program.

My Project

I have a brand new (two years old but never used) printer which was provided by a generous grant that I am so grateful for! However, the grant did not include toner. Unfortunately neither I nor the school can afford the expensive toner cartridges. So for the time being the printer sits and waits...

My students often lack the confidence to make progress.

In the South Bronx community these students come from, it is rare to see strangers provide support. This project will serve a duel purpose of providing hope and inspiration that good people exist and are willing to lend a hand.
