Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our goal for our robotics team is to encourage students to learn more about mechanic, engineering, and programming. These robotic tools can help with the mechanic and engineering with these advance and new tools. These new tools can help with building our robot for this year's competition. As we get more students involved in our program our equipment is being utilized much more frequently, causing accelerated wear and tear. We need to replace tooling on our current machines with newer ones.

We will work as a team, meeting challenges creatively and collaboratively, all while using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related skills.

We strive to provide high school students with opportunities to experience real-world engineering through robotics. It's especially meaningful because our school serves a diverse demographic. Many of our students will be the first in their family to attend 4-year institution as well. We not only give an outlet to our brightest students but also give one to those that are hardworking and have aspirations. Every year, our students are given 6 weeks to build a robot to fulfill a task at the competition. As the varsity sport for the mind, our FRC Robotics team competes in the excitement of sport, with the rigors of science and technology. We challenge our students to build and program a robot to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can. Perhaps more importantly than the hands-on experience, will be the non-technology skills we will develop--the leadership, problem solving, and everyday life skills that will prepare us for our futures.
