Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students in the newcomer English Learner (EL) class include students that have experienced the ultimate sacrifices. Many of them have left their home country, and with that, have left their family, friendships, culture and identity. Many of them have traveled alone to the United States to study, work, and send money home. Often times they do not have the resources to support their English development and therefore will get frustrated with the various contents and graduation requirements. My hope is that with Rosetta Stone, students will be able to practice their English skills more which will help them excel not only in English but all subject matters.

English learners that come into our school climate are highly motivated, yet lack the resources to help them become the best student.

Using the laptops and Rosetta Stone in a rotational after-school setting, students will be exposed to extra support in learning a new language. This will prepare them to become better students, learners and be considered College and Career Ready.

My Project

Students that migrate to the U.S. during high school can feel overwhelmed, anxious, stressed and like an outsider. Much of their uncertainty can come from their confidence in English. I am hoping to create a small space before school, after school and lunch to enrich their English skills.

Students will be able to use the Rosetta Software in the computer lab that supports their access to the English language.

Even the basic, conversational English, can take months and years to acquire. I am hoping to build these skills to give the students the confidence they will need in their math, science, and other core classes.
