My Students

Kindergarten is a very exciting year! Most of my students went to preschool but some of them this is their first experience going to school. My students love school and love to learn. Technology is a key part of education but one of the last areas to be funded especially in kindergarten

I have 26 highly motivated and energetic kindergarten students.

Our school serves free breakfast to all our students. About 75 percent of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our school is a Title 1 school. My students are very enthusiastic to learn no matter what challenges they may have at home or in the community. I have very supportive families that want the best for their children. Most of my students have limited or no access to technology at home so I hope to bring it into my classroom. That way all my students will have access to today's technology.

My Project

My students love technology but unfortunately we only get to go to the computer lab once a week for 30 minutes. Due to state testing being done in our computer lab my class is only able to go to the lab for part of the year. I love to introduce my students to the latest technology in the classroom. I am very excited that Apple has an Apple Pencil but it only works with the iPad Pro. That is why I am requesting both items.

The iPad Pro and Apple Pencil will improve my classroom because my students will be able to use the latest technology that 2016 has to offer.

The Common Core State Standards involve higher level thinking and problem solving. With the iPad Pro my students will be able to solve puzzles, review skills and learn at their own level while having fun. The different applications written for this age group include immediate feedback that motivates them by either correcting their mistakes or moving on to new challenges. My students and I will be able to use the Apple Pencil to solve problems and draw pictures or diagrams that you aren't able to do on other devices. I can also use it with my projector so the whole class can work together at the same time. We can solve math problems and draw out science experiments. The Apple Pencil also works with various iPad apps which will add a whole new dimension of creativity and learning.

This is my 27th year teaching! My class is off to a great start! Please support my class project! You will make 26 kindergartners very happy! We love technology!
