Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My profession requires me to be a life long learner. Each year I teach I want to become better for my students.

I am a second-year teacher who is dreaming big!

I work in an inner-city school and plan on contributing to Richmond City Public School's future growth and success. My school faces many challenges and is in "improvement." It is my goal to not only service my 22 fourth graders but to also contribute to my entire school and the community around it. I believe that to be successful in my goals, I must continue to research best practice and study pedagogy that is proven and successful.

My Project

I have requested a book on each area that I'd like to begin improving this year and implement with fidelity next year. These topics include number talks, building students' foundations in number sense, conferencing in reader's and writer's workshop, and truly differentiated instruction in small and whole groups. We have a high number of new teachers each year at my school, and this year was no exception. I am requesting a projector with these professional resources so that I may hold new teacher meetings where we discuss and share our experiences, plans, and studies regarding these topics. I will open it up to the veterans in my building as well.

Being a teacher is a difficult calling; being a new teacher... well, you can imagine!

The beginning teachers at my school and I are passionate, inspired, and hungry for learning just like our wonderful students. We want to give our students the best by being the best. Thank you in advance for this opportunity and your consideration.
