Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and interact with their peers. We start the day with the Pledge of Allegiance as well as a class pledge. The class pledge is a reminder to be the best students and citizens that they can be.

I teach at a Title I school in New York where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students come from low income, single family homes. Despite being in a financial disadvantage they are very eager and excited about learning. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.

My Project

My students need 26 tables so they can learn in a conducive learning environment.

My students are entering second grade in the fall of 2017.

Most of them lack the skills required and will need a lot of help with basic skills. They are attending a public school in a high poverty area. Education is the key for them to have a productive life. They are eager learners who will shine with an education that highlights gaining knowledge that enhances their life. The school is unable to purchase supplies for the students and classroom yet; they need them for better learning.

My Project

My students need tables that suit their needs. Working in a high poverty area has open my eyes to the fact that schools can not provide even basic furniture for their students. Things such as tables are pushed to the bottom of the list. These students deserve to have furniture that is not only safe but helps in their learning. Our current desks are old and constantly being repaired. Many of them need to be thrown away. Many desks are different sizes.
