Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I will be teaching English Language Arts this year in an effort to bring my creativity and passion about education to my students in the South Bronx. My students may not always have the best home lives and may not always have the resources they need, but I want to make absolutely sure that they always feel supported in their classroom when they're with me.

I want to facilitate a growth mindset and a love for learning, reading, and writing.

My students are going to feel comfortable making mistakes, sharing their mistakes with others, and learning from those mistakes. I want to do everything in my power to make sure they have the best education they can this year and every year, and that they constantly feel loved and listened to.

My Project

In this new and empty classroom, I'm looking forward to helping my students be the best they can be. They need supplies and support in order to make sure this is a successful and productive year. We will be creating visuals, decorating the classroom with their work, and using everything we have to make sure they are participating in a rigorous and effective learning environment.

In order to help my students succeed, I want to make sure we have all of the tools they need in the classroom to stay organized, engaged, and creative.

I'm looking forward to being the best teacher I can be and bringing everything I have to the table when it comes to preparing them for academic success.

My post-it chart paper will allow me to model assignments for my class so they can visualize what they have to do. Writing utensils will make sure the class is always stocked and there's never a student without a pen or pencil. Dry Erase Boards will help us assess the students when we want to have quick pop quizzes or vocabulary challenges. My class will be stocked with binders, loose leaf paper, and art supplies so my students can be sure to take their creativity to the next level. Lastly, I've also added black posterboard, bulletin board borders, and wrapping paper so that I can decorate the class with encouraging posters, quotes, and create a comfortable, calming, aesthetic environment that will encourage my students to apply themselves once they walk into my classroom.
