Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. I have second-language learners, native English speakers, autistic students, struggling readers, avid readers, ADD and ADHD students, and students from low-class families. Many of the students are in Philadelphia because they have been displaced from their homes in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

At my school, the motto is "Live, Dream, Achieve." My students know that wherever they come from has little bearing on where they're going.

As long as they work hard, they can have whatever life they want. This applies especially to the students who are new to the country.

It is up to them and the choices they make to help them succeed. We have high academic and behavior expectations, and they rise to meet the challenges set before them.

My Project

Since we are opening schools for hybrid learning in Philadelphia, my students will be in person two times a week and virtual the other 3 days on a rotating schedule. The students who will be in person are not going to following a typical middle school schedule and transition every period to their other classes. To cut down on the amount of cleaning and lost instructional time, all teachers will be moving into the rooms of their classes and students will be seated at their assigned desk all day.

This cart will help me move all of the science materials needed to begin hands on experiments again with my students.

Having everything moved at one time not only will be easier but also give me more time to make in person learning much more interactive and as we live stream the class at home students can participate with the groups as we get back to experiments.
