Help me give my students the opportunity to find the writer within by creating a Writing Center within the classroom, filled with writerly tools and materials to engage their learning process.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My outstanding, hardworking 8th graders attend school in the Bronx and most of them live in low-income households. Over 80% are under reading level with a wide range of skills. They are eager to begin their bright future, starting by being successful in the classroom!
My focus is to inspire these young social activists to be warriors of KNOWLEDGE, despite the various hardships they have faced in their young lives.
These 8th grade kiddos are truly an inspiration and filled with love for learning! Our mission is to gain an equitable education with an unlimited amount of possibilities to learn and build leaders.
My Project
The new school year is approaching in full gear! This means that I have been given the opportunity to inspire 8th-grade minds and challenge them to find the writer within. To be able to accomplish our goal of becoming literary activists that use words as our source of power, my students need the right tools to do so such as: pencils, colored pens, paper, construction paper, Post-Its, etc.
My students are extraordinary writers with stories just waiting to be written!
All my kiddos have a passion for writing; however, many of them don't have the privilege of being able to afford their basic school materials. But these setbacks WILL NOT and CANNOT come in between their rise to excellence!
