This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My second grade ENL classroom comes with students from various backgrounds. I would love to welcome my new students with the mini animal plush toy and back to school card. I would also love to have the 'All About Me' poster for students to fill out which can then be displayed around the classroom. The cute pencils and rainbow scratch mini art notes will be added to our treasure box or given to students as incentives on special occasions.
With this project I'm also requesting some meaningful books that I believe will help set a positive environment and encourage my students to accept one another regardless of the different background they come from.
I would love to use the books with my students on the first day/week of school and use the acrylic invisible floating bookshelf to display those books and other titles that my students can relate to and create a culturally responsive classroom.
In addition, a portable microphone headset would also be great because wearing a mask and speaking to students have been tough. Many times I find myself raising my voice in order for my students to hear me. The Mini Voice Amplifier with Wired Microphone Headset will help project my sound and help students hear better. The Magnetic Digital Timer requested will be displayed in the front of the room and be used to set timers for activities in the classroom. Currently, online timers are used. However, when PowerPoint or other teaching platforms are used during a lesson, the timer window will have to be minimized and students are not able to see the count down visually. I hope you will play a part in this project and help get it funded.
