Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-grade ENL teacher, I'm excited for this new school year and all that it has to offer. I teach in Long Island City Queens, and something that I admire about my students is the relationships and connections that they build with one another. All of the students in my class come from asylum seeking families and although there is a variety of different languages spoken in my classroom I plan to use these supplies to help my students feel at home and welcomed in my classroom.

My goal for this project is to have supplies, snacks, and tactile tools that students can touch, feel, and use to have a fun and engaging school year.

Having a new set of headphones for each student would support my ELL students when focusing on a grade leveled book assigned to them on their iPad and also help students focus during I-Ready instruction.

Throughout the school year, many students go through many pencils, crayons, and tissues! Having these supplies for my students would allow students to not feel limited and to feel confident in their learning. I appreciate anyone who is willing to donate to this project to make this upcoming school year a great one!
