This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Look for the possibilities, not the disabilities!" I work with an amazing group of 10th grade students who are on the Autism Spectrum. Most days I am amazed by the milestones that are reached. My students are some of the most creative, fun, loving, enthusiastic learners I have had the pleasure of teaching. These students try their best every day and are excited to come to school to learn!

My Project

We are currently getting ready to transition into a new school building! This project will help create a warm and inviting classroom for these students. My students rely heavily on visual and hands-on materials. With these materials my students will be able to grasp the materials easier as they experience it in a more functional format. Students will be able to use the manipulatives to solve problems they may face in their everyday life. I am also looking to provide sensory items to help stimulate the students. These materials will give these students the opportunity to be stimulated while being engaged in learning. Students may have an easier time staying focused on lessons when they are provided with items to stimulate them. The goal is to help students become more functional and independent each and every day!
