Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

There are 25 beautiful and brilliant students in my kindergarten class. Most of the children in my class have not attended preschool, so this is their first experience in a school setting. Some of our children face many challenges inside and outside the classroom.

Along with school being a new experience for most of the children, about half of my class has entered our school system from other countries.

These students are learning English for the first time.

I love my kindergarten students, and you would, too!

My Project

Unfortunately this year we are not able to use our big carpet for morning meeting time, reading time, and group gathering. We spend almost half of our day gathering together, and I am trying to be creative on ways we can safely gather together in our own space that is still away from our desks. These small children need opportunities to move and gather in different areas throughout the day. Staying seated at their desks for the entire day including lunch and special time is just too hard for them. These individual rug squares would make it possible for them to be in a different space for reading stories or talking as a group, something that is very important for social learning! Please consider donating!
