This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am the general education teacher in a Pre-K inclusion class in Brooklyn. Our students are three & four years old and some receive speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy.

In an early childhood classroom the rug is a place with students learn so many things like sharing, asking and answering questions and falling in love with learning.

We are in desperate need of a new rug. Our current rug has been there for more than five years. It isn’t inviting and has stains we’ve been unable to remove despite several efforts. Budget cuts have only left us with the option of buying a rug ourselves and hoping we would be reimbursed. We already purchase so many materials to do activities with students or fill needs within our class.

I want our students to have a clean, sanitized beautiful rug that will create a sense of warmth and entice them to become active participates in their learning.
