Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As an alternative high school, our student population consists of students who are overage and under-credited. They have been required to leave their previous school for a number of reasons from lack of attendance to behavioral issues to legal issues. The main reason, however, is because they have fallen too far behind in their studies and become too old to be able to graduate from a regular high school at their scheduled time. We offer a variety of classes to try and get our students engaged and earn their credits to a high school diploma. Our school community is small, tight-knit. Students feel comfortable with the staff and treat each other with respect.

My Project

As a Special Education teacher, I deal with students with multiple learning styles and preferences. Some students prefer to work on paper rather than a computer so being able to print out work for them to work to the best of their ability with their preference.

As a Special Education teacher, I have to print out a lot of papers that need to be mailed home, in connection with a student's IEP, and I am not always in the same room and I need access to printers so being able to print from a wireless printer would be easier.
