My Students

My students are primarily at-risk, low-income, struggling readers. My school is a dropout prevention alternative school. Our students typically struggle with reading comprehension and motivation, so we work in small class settings to help give each student what they need.

My students come to our school because a traditional school hasn’t worked for them for one reason or another, and we have been working to implement a more student-centered, individualized learning experience for each student that enters our school.

My Project

I'm asking for several of the "Who was...?" book series for my classroom library. Most of my students are extremely reluctant readers, but for some reason they gravitate toward nonfiction. The "Who was..." series features important historical and current figures from musicians to scientists.

The great thing about these books is that they feature interesting people in a concise, easy to read format!

They are perfect for my reluctant readers. I plan to use these books for a nonfiction book report project.

I'm also asking for some other titles that my students have asked for specifically such as books about mythical creatures and the newest Wings of Fire graphic novel.
