Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

There are many new changes for me and my future students as I have changed to a new grade level! I teach in a low-income, urban, Title I school. The population of the school is majority African American students. My students face many challenges every day, but it does not stop them from learning and being the best they can be. I want my students to push each other to be successful and be independent thinkers where they can define nonsense. I am excited to teach my students to love learning the way I love teaching.

Having new complete resources will allow my students to use new-unbroken or dried-out materials and give them the responsibility to take accountability for their materials.

Students will be responsible for their markers, dry-erase erasers, and dry-erase markers.

They will also use disinfectant wipes to help learn how to take care of the new chairs for flexible seating. Being able to take care of materials not only helps them to understand the value of their belongings, but will also instill a powerful sense of responsibility, accountability, and independence. Those skills will serve them well beyond the classroom. Knowing that I will be able to provide the resources the students need to thrive in the classroom offers me comfort.
