This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With New York City public schools back in session, it's time to update my speech room to provide the best possible learning environment for my students! Within my speech therapy sessions, I find it extremely important to help my students reach their goals using traditional ideologies with a mix of creative techniques such as the use of colorful spinners to teach new vocabulary, parts of speech, and articulation targets. The hopscotch rug will help provide movement and sensory breaks for my students as well as an end of session reward to look forward to.

My students come from diverse backgrounds and various learning needs, making it a priority to provide a space that is inclusive for all.

Making sure that my speech room is clean and ready for them to work in is imperative. A handheld vacuum, broom/dust pan, and bulletin board contact paper can help make this a reality. A mobile whiteboard will be a wonderful addition to my room to help with learning targets and providing visual supports. It will also be very helpful for the board to be accessible in different areas of the room allowing my students to engage and use the whiteboard as well! I look forward to the beautification of my speech room and helping to update the workspace for all my students!
