My Students

Thirteen students with special needs keep me very busy all day long - - but it's the best kind of busy!

This year I have thirteen students with special needs who range in age from five to eight years old.

You wouldn't know by looking at them but they have learning disabilities, cognitive delays, Autism, ADHD, and other health impairments. Many of them cannot read or do basic math skills and require mostly 1:1 teaching to be successful. These thirteen awesome kiddos attend a public elementary school in a high poverty area. Our special needs classroom is self-contained which means they stay with me for their entire day. They'll most likely continue in special education classes throughout their school career. But they can and do learn and they never fail to impress me year after year.

My Project

My children LOVE their classroom iPads! We have five iPads to date and each one has over a hundred educational games and apps. The children really look forward to iPad time during centers when I am working with small groups. However, our headphones have become old, worn, and most are broken. I'm requesting 9 new heave duty listening center headphones that will work with our iPads and last a lot longer than the dollar store headphones that I have been purchasing for them.
