Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the gym. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things exciting in physical education.

My students are eager to learn new physical activities and sports.

They are very energetic and eager to participate in all types of sports and activities.

They like to move, they enjoy learning and they love lots of positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical." From the minute they walk in the gym, I focus on their potential and growth. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experience during their time in physical education.

My Project

We will be learning how to play kickball and the students are so excited. We will be having our 1st Annual Staff vs 4th grade Kickball Game in May. It is sure to be an awesome event.

We will also be doing several other new games/activities that require a certain type of ball.

The students will be experiencing a new type of exercise and a whole lot of fun doing it.

The students are always eager to learn new and exciting games and activities. Their love for Physical Education is amazing and so much fun. Being able to learn to exercise and have fun is what it is all about.
