This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our area, public schools are cutting music programs at alarming rates. Our school recognizes the importance to study arts, especially music, so that students may foster their creativity and showcase their talents. Our school wants to give students the opportunity to perform music in an ensemble.

My students come from close-knit but at-risk, high needs community.

They are extremely hard working and appreciate all opportunities that they are offered. Many students have expressed a high level of interest in a performing ensemble at our school, especially band. I would like to give our students the opportunity to learn music and perform it at our school, within our community, and eventually competitively. Our students show the potential to be a very strong and dedicated group of musicians. Their dedication to their studies and willingness to work hard to be eligible for college admissions shows that this opportunity would be tremendous. In our first senior class, 85% of our seniors have been already accepted into a four-year colleges. This statistic alone shows the character of our school's students.

My Project

Giving my students the opportunity to perform as an ensemble will change their high school experience. The three marching snares, two marching set of toms, and marching basses required, all with carriers, would provide the basis for such a group. Ensembles give students the opportunity to express themselves, develop teamwork, and showcase their creativity. Many great memories are produced within the building of teamwork and musicianship that will stay with my students for a lifetime. Additionally, getting the opportunity to perform with other drum lines will allow students to grow musically and become more proficient at their craft. This donation will allow our school to develop a musical ensemble amidst a recession that is crippling music programs in our area. It will allow another opportunity to showcase pride in our school and ourselves by competing and being a member of a tight-knit ensemble. This pride in our school will be represented and displayed wherever we perform

This project is immensely important because it will allow our music program to start a performing ensemble.

In our at-risk and high needs community, the ability to purchase such equipment during our economic times is almost impossible. Your generosity would allow our students the ability perform in an ensemble and gain so many valuable and positive attributes. Students' development of talent and creativity will be an invaluable asset and will change my students' lives for the better.
