Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I will be teaching at a new school this year and would like to make my classroom as inviting as possible. I aim to make my classroom environment engaging, while also promoting a sense of tranquility. As my students struggle with reading, my hope is that any sense of stress associated with reading will be left at my classroom door.
Creating a stress-free, visually inviting space will enable students to be in a mental state most apt for learning.
Having a beach mural on the wall in the "book nook" will create a relaxing space where students can read independently. The rug will give students a comfortable place to sit during instruction. The L-shaped desk will provide students with a dedicated location to complete individual assessments, giving them privacy from other students in the class while testing. The rainbow window film and light blue contact paper for the bookshelves will enhance the sense of calmness in the classroom.
