My students need new chairs for their tables. With the NYC Kindergarten standards, there is a high learning demand . With these chairs I feel that my students can work better when they are more comfortable.

My Students

My students are part of a very close knit diverse community. About 20% of the schools over 1,400 student population are English Language Learners and about 18% are Special Needs students.

There can be many different struggles that my students may face on daily basis from language barriers to special needs and even challenges with their home life.

I always strive to work with them to meet their individual needs and encourage higher order thinking.

I want all of my students to have the confidence to push through challenges to meet their goals. My student are also encouraged to work together to problem solve.

My Project

The chairs will be used for my classroom tables. My students spend many hours in the day sitting at their table to complete work assignments, eat snack and play.

Currently the chairs we have are hard metal and after awhile of sitting become unfomfortable.

In these past years I have noticed how my students will start to wiggle around and loose focus due to their discomfort.

With these new chairs, the students will be able to easily move them around to make circles around the floor or move near their buddy during buddy reading time.

The new chairs will also assist me when I am working in a group with the students.
