Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school focuses on students of high academic needs. We are an elementary Title I school. The students within my school reside in a low, socio-economic environment and deal with various personal issues while simultaneously struggling to fulfill academic obligations. My classes incorporate a diverse ethnic mix of students. Students are of African/Black American, Latin, African, and a mix of other ethnic backgrounds. Classes consist of a small percentage of students on grade level and a very large percentage of below grade level students. Classes include special and general education students. In addition, there is an abundance of students who enroll as English Language Learners on all grade levels. I teach differentiated English Language Arts lessons daily within this diverse learning environment.

This year, I will be teaching literacy through theater arts (live instruction combined with remote learning).

I will also be teaching reading intervention on all grade levels (live and remotely). Theater will expose and allow young students to learn through figurative language, story elements, poetry, stage production, puppetry, music, and dance. They will read, write, listen, and speak through dramatic play which will have a great learning impact on our student's backgrounds.

My Project

The items I am requesting will help with both remote learning and classroom live instructions. The forehead thermometer, electronic item, learning phones, storage items, and cleaning supplies that I am requesting will help me support my students in our environment daily. I will need the temperature checker during live instructions to be able to quickly identify how my students are feeling so that I can immediately direct them to their next step. The airpod will help me deliver daily lessons through my computer during remote/distance learning and at school. The learning phones will help my struggling readers during independent reading times. The file tote and organizer drawers will help me stay organized and will provide a proper place for me to store my students learning materials. I will be able to easily store and carry learning materials as needed from room to room or from school to home with the file tote. The cleaning items will help us maintain a clean and safe environment when my students are in the classroom. In addition, I will teach daily health and safety lessons and will remind my students about all of today’s precautions. I expect my students to take these learnings home to their families. But most of all, when returning to the classroom, I would like to assure parents that their kids will receive quality learning in an environment in which I am able to quickly spot health concerns and that I will maintain a clean and safe environment for their children.
