Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I have the privilege of teaching 15 students with disabilities ranging from learning disabilities to mental retardation to emotional disturbance and ADD/ADHD. These junior high students loop with me for three years and even though our school is lacking in the basics what we have in spirit carries us through.

Our problem is that the only chairs we have in our classroom wobble and every time we move the desks to form small groups we have to run for ear plugs! Students should have classroom furniture that feels sturdy and we should all be able to hear ourselves when we change the configuration of the desks.

If we had new chairs for our listening center and the computer station my students would be able to concentrate better on the task at hand because they would not be distracted by the unevenness of their seating. If we had desk sox on the legs of the desks students would be able to move their desks around the room in relative quiet which would allow other students to concentrate on their work.

With your help my students will have new chairs and desks sox which will make it easier for them to concentrate in class. Eliminating the unnecessary noises and distractions in our room will make the learning environment an even better one! Thank you for your support.
