My Project
We love books in our classroom! We read for a half hour every day. Books transport us to new worlds and give us new dreams to chase. "A book is a dream you hold in your hand," Neil Gaiman.
"Once upon a time lasts forever," Philip Pullman.
My students need a vibrant, modern, and engaging classroom library. It takes new books to stay excited with reading, and these graphic novels are going to do the trick! The books I've ordered are engaging, tell compelling stories and feature diverse protagonists--which are sure to be a hit. There are fantasies like "Wingbearer," "Taxi Ghost" and "Fairest of All" and realistic fiction, such as "Two Tribes," "Unhappy Camper" and "Almost Sunset."
I feel very fortunate to order these books from Black Garnet Books, a local, Black-owned bookstore, and Birchbark Books, a Native-owned bookstore, which focuses on books by authors of color, such as "Almost Sunset" by Wahab Algarmi and "Two Tribes" by Emily Bowen Cohen.
