My Students

Our middle school is in a high poverty area and the students do not always have the materials they need.

Literacy is a high priority at our school and we are always encouraging our students to read.

Our students are often asking for the most recent books because they want to read the popular books. Well-written books that appeal to students are the key to getting our students to read and meet their reading goals.

My Project

My students need The Kinds of Clonmel, The Son of Neptune, Dairy of a Wimpy Kid Cabin Fever, and Urban Underground Set 2 to encourage them to read and meet their reading goals. Good literature opens the minds and lives of students to see what is going on in the world around them. The books that I have chosen are well-written books that will encourage our students to read. These books are from series that are popular and the Urban Underground Series are books about characters the age of our students. Our students can relate to these characters.

Our students are from a high poverty area and do not always have the funds available to purchase good books. Our media center is a very important resource to them.
