Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am teaching 6th grade for the first time this year.

My students LOVE to read.

In fact, we have a marble jar for good behavior, and guess what they asked for as a reward when the jar is full? "A whole day of reading!"

Having high-interest books right here in the classroom is the best way to keep readers reading and to interest them in new, varied, and higher level texts.

Thanks to prior donations, I am well on my way to having a robust classroom library of high-interest titles!

My Project

Having books at hand in the classroom will help my students feel inspired to read both at school and at home.

It is important to have a variety of titles and levels.

Although I teach 6th grade, some readers are above that level and others need to grow into it.

My students already love to read. Now, we need to get more books into their hands.

Last year, my students gained an average of two grade levels in half a year. This is because they read a lot. Let's keep it going!

Thank you for your support. Reading still matters.

Warmly, Ms. Large
