My Project

Hello! My name is Laidine Barbosa and I am going into my first year of teaching next fall. It is even more exciting that we will – for the first time ever – be opening up our traditional 9-12 high school to middle schoolers.

To provide the incoming students with the right resources and access to learning materials, I am asking for your help to fund a classroom library from scratch.

With this library I hope to create year-long independent reading routines that will bring joy into our classroom. Our goal for this year to begin "Book Talks" where students will sign up to present to (and convince!) their peers to read the book they've finished during the school year. By doing so, I hope to encourage students to fall into the love of reading and discover new books, genres, and authors they might've never thought to read before!

This is a big project, and as many teachers know, building a classroom library is a career-long journey. I am hoping to start that journey here, with your help!
