Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I teach at an inner city school. There are over 800 students in my elementary school. Most of the students come from a low socioeconomic status background. Eighty percent of my class speaks a language other than English (ELL). Many of the students have suffered some type of trauma in their lives. The students all receive free breakfast and lunch. A food pantry is run out of our school, with an average of 60 backpacks sent home a week. With all that said, most of the students come to school each day ready and eager to learn; to do what they can to change and make their lives, and futures better.
My Project
Many of my students do not have a huge variety of books to read at home if they have any at all.
These books would help me to give my students interesting, engaging, fun books to read while they learn from home this school year.
I would love to have books that my students can read, discuss, and most importantly enjoy.
The books are a variety of levels that will help to address the variety of needs and levels that will be in my classroom this year. Thank you for helping me to instill a love of reading in my students.
