Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students this year are the most caring and kind children I have ever taught. They are very special to me because they were kindergarteners when the pandemic started. They were sent home from their first year of school after six and a half months. They were virtually learning for a year in first grade, and came back last year without normalcy. They had dividers, masks and NO GROUP INSTRUCTION. The time they needed to be in school, they couldn't be.

But this year, they came eager to learn.

These students continue to show resilience. This school year, we were moved to a new building. Items that we had from our old building did not move with us. This is where we need your help. This year we are able to share items, work in groups, and complete work on paper.

Our new room needs a few more things to make it home. Our class needs headphones. We have great intervention programs purchased by our school district, but without headphones, the classroom is filled with noise and distraction because all the laptops have their sound on. We need a printer for the classroom, ours did not follow us to the new building and our copiers are unreliable and do not print in color. Also, since we are able to work in guided reading groups again, rolling chairs are so useful for the teachers.
