My Students

My students live in a high poverty area. Many students live in public housing or shelters. Some are being raised by extended family or are in foster homes awaiting adoption. My students come to school with high hopes of great achievements and I want to do my best to make that come true. It is often difficult because we have many obstacles, but we persist.

My upcoming students are reading 1-2 grade levels behind and math levels are comparable.

Students have different learning styles. I try to accommodate that with the resources we have, although it is terribly difficult. No matter what, our classroom is our safe, happy, learning place.

My Project

My students need basic learning materials at home. Things others might take for granted. I want to be able to create a package for each student that will contain: pencils, crayons, scissors, a notebook, a dry erase board, dry erase markers, and

Post-it notes among other essentials.

Many students scramble each day to find something to write with to do math computations. I do not want to witness this struggle any longer. My students while in class would get these items as the school budget would allow. Now in a pandemic, budgets have been slashed at the expense of our students.
