My Project

Hello! I'm here because I love my kids, and need some help! A little while ago, I got into a car accident and have more difficulty completing the work I need to in order to research (new treatment), create necessary materials for my new students, and attend Individual Education Plan (IEP)/Parent-staff meetings as well as generally providing the care I am used to doing.

I provide speech therapy to teenage boys and girls in an impoverished/Title I school in South Central LA with diagnoses and delays including but not limited to Down Syndrome, Apert Syndrome, intellectual disabilities plus orthopedic disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), language impairments, speech/articulation impairments and rare genetic syndrome disorders.

As a black, female speech language pathologist, I also hope to grow and develop as a therapist and a human, becoming someone that my kids can look up to, look forward to seeing, and act as an advocate and safe place being in a predominately brown and black student body.

I need many basic supplies. A color printer will help me create tailored picture symbols for my non vocal verbal communicators. Oil pastels and additional therapeutic treatment materials will help me provide treatment in the manner students need. I also want to make therapy as fun, engaging, and enjoyable as possible.

I want to continue to make materials that are racially diverse, thoughtful, and inclusive. Your donation would help me better teach and better deliver the treatment these students need and relieve some of the pain I experience since my accident. Thank you for your time reading this!
