Necessities for Very Special Students

Help me give my students some basic learning necessities. I am teaching a mix of underserved 6th, 7th & 8th grade Special Education students who are severely challenged. Appropriate materials are limited and costly. Please, help us out!

My Project

My students are my family for the 180 days a year that I have them in front of me. My goal is to provide them with a nurturing learning space; one where they feel safe, comfortable, and seen. And while I have been able to give them the best of myself, we are still desperately in need of appropriate learning materials.

My students are not performing on the same academic level as their peers in Middle School.

They have different social, emotional and academic needs.

They require materials not normally found on these grade levels so they can truly get the type of instruction that will help them learn the skills required for a successful and productive life. We have a tremendously supportive administration, but the bottom line is, that there is no additional money to provide what is needed.

The materials requested are some basic instructional tools for life skills students. The children can not learn in a traditional fashion and have a special set of needs that require hands on learning.
