My Students

My schools are 69% Title 1 students. They are a diverse group studying the Holocaust and the Armenian Genocide. Students need equity and access to highly trained teachers who will help them navigate databases for research, scholarship, and higher education. I have created pathways for student success in college and career research and the digital library. I have already achieved one National Board Certification in English and am now working on one in Library Media.

Studies show that teachers who are National Board Certified are more effective with students.

My Project

National Board Certification focuses on identifying and addressing the needs of your students. Part of a national network, teachers work with other teachers to grow in their profession witnessing the latest strategies which engage students in meaningful education.

The process involves videotaping lessons, analyzing student artifacts, and studying for a rigorous assessment.

Harvard University’s Strategic Data Project reported that students of Board-certified teachers in the Los Angeles Unified School District gained roughly the equivalent of two months of additional instruction in Math and one month in English Language Arts. Among math teachers, this contrasts with a lack of a significant impact on teachers who held only advanced degrees (Strategic Data Project, 2012).
