Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a self-contained class where the disabilities range from learning disabled, ADHD and students who do not speak the English language. My students' ethnic background range from African American and different Latino ethnicities.

My students are expected to learn the common core standards even with their diagnosed disabilities.

It is up to me to differentiate and ensure that all students access the curriculum but on their level. My students are excited to learn when they are able to access the information on their level.

My Project

My students struggle to understand the common core standards due to their learning disabilities. I want to help them understand math through art. I am requesting two Lakeshore Write & Wipe Answer Boards, a set of Common Core Math Practice Cards, a set of Building Math Skills Write & Wipe Boards, a set of Fraction Multipliers, two Expo Low Odor Dry Erase Markers Sets, and a classpack of Colored Pencils. With these resources and art supplies I can empower my students to make their learning visible and help them learn on their level. I truly believe that my students can succeed when they use art to visualize their thinking.

With drawings and images, students can demonstrate that they understand what they are learning.

These tools such as dry erase markers, colored pencils, whiteboards and plastic sleeves can really help them make their learning visual and empower students to learn. Help me empower my students to tackle the common core standards through art.
